Chatham is located in southwestern Ontario.  The city began as a naval dockyard in the 1790"s.  The area of Chatham was part of the underground railroad during the 19th century.  Uncle Tom's Cabin site is located in Chatham, Ontario and was a refuge for slaves escaping the usa.  In 1998 the county of Kent and the city of Chatham, Ontario amalgamated to form Chatham Kent.
